Whitney discovered her passion and desire to support families through the birth and postpartum period in 2012. After hiring a doula and experiencing a truly redemptive VBAC birth with her second child, she started her journey to a career in supporting women and their families through labor and birth. Whitney officially trained as a birth doula and in her very first year of opening her first labor and postpartum doula practice in 2013, she passionately supported 40 families as they welcomed new babies into their families, and that was just the beginning. After running her own practice for almost 3 years, serving close to 100 families, and with the great desire to be able to serve more families with the same level of expertise and compassion, she decided to partner with Merrill Durham to open Nashville Doulas Services LLC. After the first two years running NDS, Vicki Woods joined Whitney as Co-Owner, and they along with their passionate team of doulas have since served 100s of families in the greater Nashville area, and continue to grow.

In 2019, Whitney and Vicki decided to pursue a dream, and purchased and took over a wonderful, local birth doula training, McDoula, and eventually renamed the program Harbor Birth Institute. Whitney is passionate about helping new doulas find their way to turn their passion into a sustainable, fulfilling career, where they can truly make a difference.

When Whitney is not running her doula agency and training new doulas at HBI, she is spending time with her husband and four children, Cole (9), Bray (7), Asa (4), and Noa (1). Whitney enjoys exploring nature with her kids on their small family farm just south of Nashville.
